The ESOP Association Canada is pleased to welcome you to our new website!
Our new site will continue to provide general information on ESOPs but we also have a number of new features we’re excited to introduce. These include:
The new website marks the start of an exciting year for the association and its board of directors. Our board was established in the fall of 2016 after two successful ESOP conferences highlighted the growing interest in ESOPs and the need for an active association at the national level.
We are pleased to introduce you to our board, which represents ESOP advisors and leaders from ESOP companies:
Camille Jensen, chair, ESOP Builders partner
Ramy Taraboulsi, vice chair, VeritableSoft Innovations CEO
Dan Ohler, secretary, ESOP Builders partner
Dean Ell, treasurer, iQmetrix director of finance
Melanie Russell, Kalex Valuations Inc. president
Kevin Ballantyne, The Achievement Centre business advisor
Ramona Rodriguez, National Center for Employee Ownership membership co-ordinator
Parker J. Fjeldberg, SNS Technologists director
Patrick O'Brien, Metcalf Archaeological Consultants Inc. principal investigator
The board is focusing on three main areas for 2017:
Canadian Employee Ownership Conference
The momentum for our annual conference continues to build with the third Canadian Employee Ownership conference taking place in Gatineau - Ottawa in June. The event will feature a number of ESOP companies including WestJet, Beau's Brewery and the Silvacom Group.
As with all conferences, many of the best conversations take place outside of the main presentation room and we’re pleased to host a night of networking that will see attendees take an open air bus tour of Ottawa followed by a casino night.
A second initiative for the board is the introduction of membership to the association, which is currently free to individuals and companies. Members will have access to our new, quarterly webinars for free, as well as the opportunity to connect with our volunteer mentors and experts.
In the coming year we hope to learn more about what our members value and expand our membership offerings.
National Employee Ownership Day
The ESOP Association Canada is planning its first National Employee Ownership Day to take place June 7, 2017. The day will coincide with this year’s conference in Gatineau - Ottawa and we're inviting government representatives to attend and learn first-hand how employee ownership benefits business and Canadians.
While the first Employee Ownership day will see a significant presence in Ottawa we’re also hoping ESOP companies from across Canada will mark the day by connecting with their local media and MPs to share the benefits of employee ownership. Watch for more information on Canada’s first Employee Ownership Day in the coming months.
We at the ESOP Association Canada board are enthusiastic to continue promoting ESOPs as an important tool for economic growth and social progress. We firmly believe ESOPs present a solution to many of the challenges facing Canada and with the support of our members 2017 will be a year of awareness building, learning and celebration.
